The national anthems of the US and Ukraine were played at the concert, organised by the US Embassy and the American Culture Center and hosted at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre.
During her speech, President Zourabichvili recalled the words of Dean Acheson, the former US State Secretary, about the Georgian people:
You have been often conquered, but never subdued. You have been able throughout the ages to preserve your own national personality, and you have never lost the will to stand up for your human rights. We Americans admire you for this enduring spirit.”
70 years ago, State Secretary Dean Acheson said of Georgians, "You've been often conquered, but never subdued, been able throughout the ages to preserve your own national personality, and you've never lost the will to stand up for your human rights."
