United States ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan on Tuesday said the ongoing Black Sea Security Forum in Tbilisi was “important” amid nuclear threats being made by Russia on the backdrop of its aggression against Ukraine.
The diplomat said it was “timely” to discuss the threats at the forum, which is focused on recent challenges to nuclear and radiological security of the Black Sea region.
The ambassador also said she was happy her office had co-sponsored the fourth annual forum, which brings together government agencies and other stakeholders to discuss “these very important questions”.
Degnan noted the event was co-sponsored by the Swedish radiology agency as well as the Civil Defence non-governmental organisation.
