40 tons of humanitarian aid sent to Ukraine via gov't campaign

The Georgian government said on Sunday 40 tons of humanitarian aid had been sent to help Ukrainians displaced by war as part of the Produce for Ukraine campaign, organised by the government and the Ministry of Economy’s Enterprise Georgia agency.
Goods including food, beverages, clothes, hygiene products and medical supplies were collected with support of Georgian companies to assist the people affected by Russia's ongoing invasion of the country.
The transportation of the products was provided by Georgian Post and Easy Charter airlines, the Economy Ministry said.
The Produce for Ukraine initiative was announced on Monday and aims to deliver high necessity products from Georgian companies that had taken part in the Produce in Georgia campaign launched in recent years with the government’s support.
The Georgian government has also sent medical supplies worth one million GEL ($315,000/€279,000) to Ukraine since the start of hostilities in the country on February 24.
Russia began its military assault on Ukraine last week, following President Putin’s announcement of the recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk on February 21.
The Business Association of Georgia (BAG), which brings together hundreds of entrepreneurial groups in the country, transferred 100,000 GEL ($31,000/€28,000) through Georgia’s Red Cross Society in support of Ukraine on Wednesday.
