A humanitarian aid package for Ukraine, collected throughout Georgia following a decision by the Prime Minister, is ready to be delivered to the country, the Government Administration said on Friday.
The aid package of over 100 tons includes non-perishable goods, basic necessities, medicines and other products. Tbilisi served as the collection point for contributions from eastern Georgia’s municipalities, with the Black Sea coast’s Poti terminal serving the same function for the cargo from the western parts of the country.
The Government Administration said the effort had involved regional State Representatives and the Government's Department for Relations with the Regions, with both private and civic sectors actively involved in the process.
The Georgian Government has been providing large-scale humanitarian assistance to Ukraine since the start of hostilities in the country last month, while also extending support to Ukrainian citizens in Georgia.
