Georgian Prosecution Service sends humanitarian aid to Ukrainian children

The Prosecution Service of Georgia has sent humanitarian cargo to Ukraine in assistance to children affected by the Russian military invasion of the country which began on February 24, the state body announced on Monday. 

The products and items sent by the Georgian side included baby food, accessories, clothing, hygiene items and other products of high necessity, selected and purchased after consultations with the Ukrainian side. 

The Georgian Prosecution Service has pledged to continue its humanitarian contribution to those in need due to the conflict in the country. 

The delivery follows 40 tons of aid sent on Sunday from Georgia as part of the Produce for Ukraine campaign, launched by the government and the Ministry of Economy’s Enterprise Georgia agency.

The Georgian government has also provided aid worth one million GEL ($315,000/€279,000) to Ukraine, with the Georgian Post announcing it would deliver humanitarian parcels to Ukrainian citizens free of charge.

Russia began its military assault on Ukraine on February 24, after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of the recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk on February 21.
