Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze said the country’s Government and Prime Minister had designated it as the “stated policy” to “avoid all risks to the country”, with the official making the remark to local reporters after a sitting of the Parliamentary Confidence Group in a closed format today.

“The stated policy of the Prime Minister and Government is to take care of Georgia - our focus is our citizens and our country,” Burchuladze said, adding relevant agencies “work intensively not to create a tendency to develop threats” on the backdrop of continuing military actions in Ukraine.

In his comments about humanitarian contribution provided by Georgia to Ukrainian people, Burchuladze said the Government was organising an uninterrupted delivery of aid to Ukraine, adding “one plane [with aid cargo] has been sent, the other is ready [for next delivery]."

In response to a question regarding the necessity of a Security Council meeting - raised by local political opposition - the Minister said the heads of law enforcement agencies met with the PM on a daily basis to discuss the events, “possible consequences” and “risks” that could result from the war in Ukraine.

During the sitting of the Parliamentary Confidence Group today, Burchuladze informed MPs about the secret state procurements implemented and planned at the Ministry of Defence, as well as security challenges and threats in the Black Sea region.
