Georgia's stance on the ongoing war in Ukraine is "absolutely clear" to the country's Western partners, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said on Tuesday in an interview with TV Imedi.
According to Zalkaliani, on Monday he met the United States Ambassador to discuss and share the steps Georgia’s partners should take in order to minimise the existing threats and come out of the crisis "with dignity", to avoid damaging Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
[Ambassador Degnan] also thanked us for the consistent and tough stance we express in terms of the political and humanitarian support for Ukraine, the Georgian minister said in comments on the meeting.
[The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy] Josep Borrell said the same in a conversation with me, and in public - that Georgia is not forgotten, Zalkaliani also explained.
Georgia’s top foreign affairs official also mentioned his talks with the United States Assistant Secretary of State, the United Kingdom Secretary of State, the European Union President and the French Foreign Minister, adding “everyone agrees that our position is absolutely precise and balanced, taking into account the threats our country faces.”
Zalkaliani said the government was “in full coordination with” its partners and enjoyed “unwavering and solid support” from them.
