Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday told the United Nations Climate Change Conference 85 percent of electricity generation in Georgia came from renewable sources and added further enhancing the share of renewable energy was a “strategic priority” for the country.

The government administration cited Garibashvili on saying the government would continue to support “further non-traditional renewable energy development projects” including solar, wind, hydrogen and geothermal.

The PM also said he hoped the outcome of conference discussions in Sharm el-Sheikh would be the development of a “strong framework for increasing the resilience of our countries".

"However, these efforts can only be effective if the perspectives and contexts of developing countries in all regions are considered", he added.
