Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday said his Government stood ready to work closely with the transatlantic community to “safeguard peace, stability and promote shared values”.
Garibashvili held a meeting with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the alliance’s ongoing Summit, stressing Georgia was one of the most “reliable and capable” partners of the bloc.

The head of the Government also took part in a special session of the North Atlantic Council, which, in addition to officials of member states, was attended by leaders from Finland, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and high-level EU officials, the Government Administration said.
Garibashvili spoke about the deteriorating security environment in the Black Sea region and the steps taken by Georgia amid the war in Ukraine.
In his comments, he noted the “high level” of practical cooperation between Georgia and NATO in recent years, and expressed his hope the progress made by the country in implementation of reforms would have a “positive impact” on the path of its accession to the alliance.
The NATO Summit on Wednesday decided to “step up tailored political and practical support” to partners including Georgia. Heads of member states also reaffirmed the decision taken at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Georgia and Ukraine would become members of the alliance.
