New measures to step up “tailored political and practical support” to partners including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Moldova will be ensured by NATO following a declaration on the matter at the ongoing Summit of the alliance on Wednesday.

We will work with [the partners] to build their integrity and resilience, develop capabilities, and uphold their political independence”, the Summit Declaration on the question noted.

Heads of NATO member states also adopted the Strategic Concept underlining the Alliance’s “strong support” for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries aspiring for membership in the bloc.

We will continue to develop our partnerships with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Ukraine to advance our common interest in Euro-Atlantic peace, stability and security”, they noted.

We reaffirm the decision we took at the 2008 Bucharest Summit and all subsequent decisions with respect to Georgia and Ukraine”, the document said in reference to the Summit that said Georgia would become a member of the alliance.
