Italian Parliament official: Georgia’s EU integration deserves “strong support” of Italy

Georgia's European Union integration process deserves “strong support” from Italy, Mario Perantoni, the Chair of the Committee on Legal Affairs of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, said on Thursday.
Perantoni made the comment as part of his meeting with Anri Okhanashvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Issues Committee, in Italy, where the integration of the country into the alliance was discussed.
The Italian Parliament official stressed Georgia “really” deserved a “strong support” of Italy in the process, adding the country “belonged” in the EU. The meeting also went over Georgia’s policy of the peaceful de-occupation of its Russian-occupied territories, the press office of the Georgian Parliament said.

Georgia's place is in the European Union and Poland supports the country on its path to European integration, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said on Thursday during his meeting with Georgian counterpart.
The prospects of Georgia's accession to the European Union and Georgian-Polish bilateral relations were discussed by Levan Ioseliani, the Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Alexander Elisashvili, the Chairman of the opposition Citizens political group, and Mariusz Maszkiewicz, the Polish Ambassador to Georgia on Wednesday.
Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European Union Integration Committee, said on Tuesday she expected the conclusion of the European Commission on Georgia’s EU membership bid would be “positive”.
The current developments in Ukraine, Germany's support for Georgia's European integration process, and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries were discussed between presidents Salome Zourabichvili and Frank-Walter Steinmeier in a meeting in Berlin on Monday.
