Prime Minister inspects infrastructure projects in western Imereti region

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday visited  infrastructure projects in the country’s western Imereti region, revealing his Government was willing to spend over ₾70 million ($22.8/€21.7 mln) on the initiatives in the locality.

The PM noted his team was intending to build a technology park in the hub city of Kutaisi, to be modelled on the famed Silicon Valley in the United States.

I am actively considering a creation of a technopark near the Parliament building in Kutaisi, which will allow our youth, including Kutaisi residents, the locals to get hired,” he explained.

Garibashvili also inspected rehabilitation works in Kutaisi’s Central Boulevard and Paliashvili street, renovated in projects worth ₾10 million ($3.2/€3.1 mln).

The Government head later also inspected works at a Tskaltubo resort town public school, financed by the state Municipal Development Fund.

Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli, who accompanied Garibashvili during his visit, said the Tskaltubo school was a “good example” of the PM’s initiative to build and rehabilitate 800 schools throughout Georgia.

In Tskaltubo, the Prime Minister was also introduced to the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Galaktion Tabidze street. Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze said the works were carried out under a ₾6.5 million ($2.1/€2 mln) project.

Other worst visited by the PM included those in the towns of Khoni and Samtredia.

The Infrastructure Ministry’s Municipal Development Fund is carrying out infrastructure projects in 63 municipalities of Georgia.
