A total of 1,200 infrastructure projects worth ₾132 million (about $44.75m/€42.50m) are underway in western Georgia's Imereti region, the Ministry of Infrastructure has revealed.
The projects are co-financed by various state funds and programmes, as well as the European Union.
The projects are diverse and cover practically the entire spectrum of infrastructure - including the rehabilitation of kindergartens, schools, roads, water supply and sewage systems," First Deputy Infrastructure Minister Ilia Begiashvili said.
Simultaneously, over 500 infrastructure projects worth ₾96 million (about $31m/€30m) are planned for eastern Georgia’s winemaking region of Kakheti, the Ministry revealed last week.
From solar-powered utilities to digital information initiatives co-funded by the European Union, recreational spaces, irrigation systems, cultural venues and more, the region will receive both new initiatives and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
