A Government programme will build 330 brand-new kindergartens and renovate 555 facilities across Georgia following an initiative by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

Announced by the Government Administration on Monday, the ₾1.3 billion ($0.49bln) programme will set up the kindergartens with indoor and outdoor spaces for use as recreation zones.

They will also be “fully adapted” to those with special needs, the reveal said.

The announcement noted ₾100 million ($38.03mln) had already been allocated for the first phase of the works, scheduled for this year. 

The construction and renovation works will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund.

The Ministry of Infrastructure lists 1,668 pre-school educational institutions across the country as of 2023, with 154,501 children taking classes at the venues from 17,194 teachers.
