About 400 projects worth ₾37 million ($14mln) have been implemented in the western Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions of Georgia in 2022, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced on Wednesday.

The infrastructural projects included renovation of local kindergartens, cultural and tourist sites as well as improvement of road infrastructure and water supply systems.

Papuna Margveladze, the State Representative in the regions, specified about 40 km of internal rural roads had been built this year, with water supply systems fixed in 25 villages.

Deputy Infrastructure Minister Ilia Begiashvili said “various infrastructure projects” had been underway this year in all four municipalities of the region “depending on the needs of the specific municipalities”.

“One-year projects are fully completed, in addition to parts of the transition projects that were due to be completed during 2022”, he said, adding he expected similar investments in infrastructure next year.
