The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure will announce a tender for reconstruction and renovation of hundreds of kindergartens across Georgia this spring, the Fund said on Wednesday during a meeting with construction companies.

Set to come within a ₾1.3 billion ($0.49 bln) programme, the tender will involve construction of 135 new kindergartens and renovation of 100 facilities within the first stage of the government programme.

Fund Director Davit Tabidze said ₾100 million ($37.9 mln) of the budget had already been allocated for the first phase of the works, scheduled for this year.

The overall Government programme aims to build 300 new kindergartens and renovate 585 existing facilities across the country, following an initiative by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

The works will include setting up indoor and outdoor spaces for use as recreation zones, with the buildings to be fully adapted to children with special needs.
