Georgian PM inspects rehabilitation works in eastern Shida Kartli region

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday inspected rehabilitation works ongoing as part of the Renewed Regions state programme in central-eastern Georgia’s Shida Kartli region, the Government Administration said.

The works in the region include those in the Kaspi Municipality city of Kaspi, where the Giorgi Saakadze Square is being set up, along with renovation of building facades on David Agmashenebeli, Giorgi Saakadze and Merab Kostava streets. The Municipal Development Fund has allocated over ₾8.3 million (about 2.85m/€2.70m) to the rehabilitation works in the municipality.

Inspecting the works as part of his regional tour on the weekend, Garibashvili, together with Irakli Karseladze, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, also observed rehabilitation efforts worth ₾4.5 million (about 1.54m/€1.46m) in the regional town of Khashuri.

The officials also visited a new football stadium in the town, built by the Fund in accordance with international standards, and with World Bank support worth ₾6.4 million (about 2.20m/€2.08m). As part of the works, the road infrastructure adjacent to the stadium has also been repaired.

The PM also visited the renovated museum of Dimitri Kipiani, a 19th century public and cultural figure, in the Khashuri Municipality village of Kvishkheti. Museum Director Revaz Nozadze noted the project had been implemented “directly with the signature of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili,” with the total cost of the project reaching ₾848.271 (about $292,000/€276,000). The funds were allocated from the Municipal Development Fund and local budget.
