Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated the military on Saturday with the Georgian Defence Forces Day by thanking servicemembers for their service and celebrating their “most important” job.

The PM noted “our proud army, our officers, sergeants, servicemembers” in his message for the date that noted their task of “defending our country and its freedom.”

The Georgian Government is doing “its best” to “further strengthen” the armed services and make personnel feel “more appreciated” for their work, the PM added.

Garibashvili also paid a tribute to the troops fallen in conflicts and peacekeeping missions over the years, saying “they are an example of patriotism and devotion” and adding they would “always remain in the memory of our army and society.”
