Booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine will be permitted three months after getting the second shot of all vaccines, down from the initially recommended five, Deputy Health Minister of Georgia Tamar Gabunia said earlier today.
Gabunia said the change will take effect on December 27.
Georgian health officials said in the middle of December that it is necessary to administer COVID-19 vaccine booster shots in order to prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant in the country.
Vaccination with booster doses began on October 13 in Georgia for people over the age of 50 and individuals with chronic diseases and high-risk groups, while since November 10 Georgian citizens over the age of 18 are also allowed to receive booster shots.
