Georgia reports 2,676 new cases of coronavirus, weekly positivity rate stands at 5.02%

Georgia has reported 2,676 new cases of coronavirus, 2,966 recoveries and 63 deaths over the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate for tested individuals stands at 5.02%.
42,722 tests have been administered within the last 24 hours, out of which 28,677 were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,095 were PCR tests.
Out of the new 2,676 cases, 1,063 were reported in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.

- Kakheti – 148 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 277 cases
- Kvemo Kartli – 110 cases
- Shida Kartli –171 cases
- Adjara – 213 cases
- Guria – 142 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti – 45 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 75 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 43

The number of total Covid-19 Omicron variant cases has risen to 51 as of December 26 in Georgia, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported earlier today.
Georgian health officials have said that it is 'necessary' to administer Covid-19 vaccine booster shots in order to prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant in the country.
Georgia has reported 986 new cases of coronavirus, 3,193 recoveries and 71 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate in the country has come down to 5.86% as of December 27 over the last 14 days.
Booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine will be permitted three months after getting the second shot of all vaccines, down from the initially recommended five, Deputy Health Minister of Georgia Tamar Gabunia said earlier today.

Georgia has reported 2,097 new Covid-19 cases, 2,331 recoveries, and 51 deaths in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days stands at 5.57%. Overall 25,793 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.
