Wrestler Ramaz Zoidze is into the match for the Greco-Roman wrestling bronze medal after fixtures on Tuesday in Tokyo where he scored two wins, while four other athletes from Georgia also competed.
The 25-year-old competing in the men's 67 kg division won against Cuba's Ismael Borrero Molina in the Last 16 round, before repeating the result with Aker al Obaidi of the Refugee Olympic Team in the quarterfinal.
Zoidze was then defeated in the semifinal hosted at Makuhari Messe Hall by Iran's Mohammadreza Geraei, and proceeds to the bronze match set for Wednesday in the Japanese capital.
Two other wrestlers in the Greco-Roman category - Giorgi Melia and Lasha Gobadze - were eliminated from the competition after conceding defeats to Hungary's Alex Gergo Szoke and Uzbekistan's Rustam Assakalov respectively.
Tuesday's schedule also saw Giorgi Mujaridze take to the field in athletics, with the Georgian ending up 15th in the shot put competition. Lasha Gulelauri similarly closed the day near the bottom of the result table in triple jump.
