New record high 158 coronavirus cases confirmed in Georgia

A total of 158 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed over the last 24 hours in Georgia.

However, the medical director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today that this number is not a reason to panic.

Out of the 158 new cases:

87 were reported in the region of Adjara
28 were reported in the region of Samegrelo
19 were reported in the region of Imereti
6 were reported in the region of Guria
18 were reported in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi

Ezugbaia said that despite the increasing number of new cases, contacts are being identified quickly and placed in self-isolation.

As of now Georgia has confirmed a total of 2075 cases of COVID-19 since late February, including 1363 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Georgia has reported a record 165 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, of which 109 were registered in the Adjara region of Georgia, 81 had contact with infected individuals and four cases are 'imported', said Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia.

Teona Tskhomelidze, a journalist of Rustavi 2, TV has tested positive for coronavirus. Some other 300 employees of the TV company were checked via PCR testing. The family and close contacts of Tskhomelidze have gone into self-isolation.

Georgia reports record high 87 new coronavirus cases

Georgia has reported a record 87 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, of which 29 were registered in Batumi, in the Adjara region of Georgia and the source of 10 cases are unknown. Currently, 536 people are undergoing treatment at Covid centres of which four are in critical and 17 are in severe condition. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries has increased by 20, reaching 1,354.

Georgia has reported 45 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, which is a record high number after April 16 when 42 cases of coronavirus were detected. Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia said that out of 45 new cases of coronavirus, 23 were detected in the Adjara region of Georgia and five cases are related to a big wedding in the capital city of Tbilisi.

Georgia has reported 227 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, which is a new record in the number since the country confirmed its first case of the virus on February 26, 2020. One patient has died of the coronavirus in the country in the past 24 hours and 69 individuals have recovered. The deceased patient suffered from cancer and had several other underlying illnesses. Georgia has had 4,140 cases of the coronavirus since the end of February 2020.1,643 of the 4,140 patients have recovered, while 24 others have died. As of today 2,473 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in the country.
