Coronavirus: Georgia reports 227 new cases, 1 more death, 69 recoveries

Georgia has reported 227 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, which is a new record in the number since the country confirmed its first case of the virus on February 26, 2020. 

One patient has died of the coronavirus in the country in the past 24 hours and 69 individuals have recovered. 

The deceased patient suffered from cancer and had several other underlying illnesses.

The new 227 cases were reported in: 

  • Adjara region of western Georgia - 165 cases
  • Tbilisi - 34 cases
  • Rustavi 4 cases 
  • Imereti - 14 cases (12 in Kutaisi 2 in Terjola municipality) 
  • Guria - 4 cases (1 in Lanchkhuti, 3 in Ozurgeti) 
  • Dusheti - 1 case 
  • Zugdidi - 2 cases 

Georgia has had 4,140 cases of the coronavirus since the end of February 2020.

1,643 of the 4,140 patients have recovered, while 24 others have died.

As of today 2,473 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in the country. 

The government currently has no plans to declare a national lockdown for a second time. 

Health officials say that the country still remains a green zone for tourists.
