Georgian head coach of Uzbek football club Shota Arveladze tests positive for coronavirus

Georgian head coach of Uzbek professional football club Pakhtakor, Shota Arveladze, has tested positive for coronavirus and gone into isolation, Tribuna.az reports. 

Due to the coronavirus Arveladze will miss today’s match between Pakhtakor and Shahri Hudri, says the media outlet.

Brother of Shota Arveladze, Archil Arveladze says that a rapid test showed positive yesterday, while the result of a PCR test will be known tomorrow. 

Arveladze is Georgia’s all-time top scorer with 291 goals in his 410 league games for his clubs and 26 goals in his 61 games for the national football team.

Arveladze was named as Uzbekistan’s coach of the year in 2019. He received the status again in August 2020. 

Uzbekistan has had more than 53,000 cases of the coronavirus so far. 

More than 3,300 people remain infected with Covid-19 in the country.
