Russian-occupied Tskhinvali confirms first case of coronavirus

Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region has confirmed its first case of the coronavirus today.

RES media outlet reports an individual with coronavirus entered the region on April 30 from Russia and was placed under quarantine. 

After testing positive for the virus, he was transferred to the Infectious Disease Hospital in Tskhinvali region and isolated in a separate ward.

Each person with whom the patient had contact will be quarantined”, said Marina Kochieva, the doctor from the Infectious Disease Hospital.

Russian-occupied Tskhinvali closed the so-called “border” with the rest of Georgia and over 60 countries to prevent the coronavirus from spreading to the area in early March, however however allows citizens of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia)  to enter the territory during the pandemic.
