The resolution, on the European perspective of Moldova,Ukraine, Georgia and Western Balkans, was adopted at a plenary session of the Romanian Parliament and emphasised that Romania, as a strategic partner of Georgia, confirmed its strong support for the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It also recognised the European Union’s enlargement policy as the “most successful tool” for stimulating democratic transformation in the bloc’s Eastern Neighbourhood and the Western Balkans.
The Romanian Parliament “strongly” supported the progress of European integration of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia and also called for continued European support so that “Georgia can take further steps on the path of European integration, including receiving the status of a candidate for EU membership”.
