US Ambassador hopes for European Council’s “positive” decision on Georgia’s EU candidacy

Robin Dunnigan, the Ambassador of the United States to Georgia, on Tuesday said she hoped the European Council would make a favourable decision on Georgia’s European Union membership candidate status in December.

In her remarks over the matter, Dunnigan “once again” congratulated the Georgian President, the Government and the country on the “important” step on their path to EU membership.

Dunnigan also highlighted the partnership and friendship of “many years” between the United States and Georgia.

The American diplomat added Georgia had done an “incredibly great job” in its reforms but added “there is much more to be done”, pledging her country’s Government would continue to stand by the country.
