Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday said Hungary was “firmly” supporting the country’s European integration and had voiced “important positions” around the subject.

Botchorishvili said the ongoing visit of Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the Georgian Dream ruling party, and Georgian MPs to Hungary, a week before the European Council's upcoming decision on whether to grant the European Union membership candidate status to Georgia, was “important”.

“We will have meetings with the Ministry of European Union Affairs, as well as with important officials of the country's Parliament who are directly related to the development, expressing and voicing of positions in the Council of the European Union”, she added.

Kobakhidze will meet with top Hungarian officials during the four-day visit, with the Georgian delegation including Botchorishvili, Giorgi Volski, the Vice Parliament Speaker and Irakli Mezurnishvili, a GD MP, the party's press office announced today.
