Gia Volski, the Vice Parliament Speaker of Georgia, on Friday hailed Hungary as a “steadfast supporter” of his country’s European Union integration along with “many other states”, ahead of the European Council’s upcoming decision this month whether to grant Tbilisi the bloc’s candidacy.
In remarks over the visit of a Georgian delegation headed by Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, to Budapest this week, the MP said the four-day trip had extended beyond Georgia’s European integration to encompass a “variety of topics”.
The discussions and exchange of ideas covered not only the topic of European relations - where Hungary is an unwavering and steadfast supporter - we also found common ground on current global processes and shared perspectives on several fundamental issues”, he said.
Along with Kobakhidze and Volski, the Georgian delegation included Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee in the Parliament and Irakli Mezurnishvili, a GD MP.
