The Georgian national rugby team defeated Romania on Saturday by 56:6 in a test match of the preparation for the World Cup at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

The Lelos, coached by Levan Maisashvili, claimed the victory with eight tries by Gela Aprasidze, Merab Sharikaze, Giorgi Chkoidze, Mikheil Gachechiladze and Akaki Tabutsadze, as well as Luka Matkava, Shalva Mamukashvili and Vasil Lobzhanidze. Matkava contributed with five accurate conversion kicks.

Before the World Cup, the Georgian team is set to play two more test matches. The Georgians will host the United States team on August 19 in Tbilisi and will play as a guest against Scotland on August 26.
The Lelos will play against Wales, Australia, Fiji and Portugal at the World Cup in France from September 8 to October 28.
