Landmarks across the world were illuminated in red and white on Friday to mark Independence Day of Georgia, as the country celebrated the 32nd anniversary of the restoration of its statehood.
In Strasbourg, the building of the Council of Europe was illuminated in the colours at the initiative of the Permanent Representation of Georgia to the CoE.
Elsewhere in Europe, the flag was illuminated and displayed on İzmir Clock Tower - the main symbol in the Turkish city - for the first time, following an initiative of the Georgian Embassy in Ankara.
The Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul was also used in the symbolic celebration of the date.

The Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku also joined the list of landmarks used for the occasion, with the country’s national also performed.
Ireland celebrated the anniversary by showcasing the landmark Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin with the colours, while Brussels’ iconic Manneken Pis statue was dressed in the chokha national costume.

The municipal offices in the Italian city of Bari joined the celebrations by raising the national flag of Georgia, with the symbol also displayed in Bern, Switzerland.
In the United States, the Green Bowling Park in Manhattan saw a raising of the national symbol, and its colours were used to illuminate the George Washington Bridge in New York City, as organised by the Consulate General of Georgia. The illumination was also used on the San Francisco City Hall to signify the date.
