The events dedicated to the Georgian Independence Day concluded with a gala concert on the First Republic Square in the country’s capital of Tbilisi and in the cities across the country.

Georgia marks the annual celebrations after May 26, 1918 – the day the Act of Independence established the First Democratic Republic of the country.

A line-up of Georgian artists and bands performed at the gala concerts across cities of the country. The capital’s concert included the Georgian State Choir, the state ensemble Basiani, the Georgian National Ballet Sukhishvilebi and Mariam Aleksidze Ballet troupe.

The Georgian Six, Salio, Konstantin Kipiani, Liza Bagrationi, Nukri Kapanadze and Eka Mamaladze, as well as Sopho Khalvashi, Tika Balanchini, Nato Metonidze and Iano Alibegashvili, also performed at the gala concert, the Culture Ministry said.

The Independence Day programme included events and exhibitions in cities across the country, with the main programme hosted in capital Tbilisi throughout the day.
