Georgian tourism body hosting Korean journalists in promotion of visitor attractions

A team from the popular South Korean educational public broadcaster and radio network EBS is visiting Georgia’s tourist sites to produce a four-episode programme about the country’s visitor potential, cultural heritage, wine and cuisine, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Wednesday.

Hosted by the Administration, the crew have filmed visitor destinations in capital Tbilisi, central city of Gori and the historic rock-hewn town of Uplistsikhe near the latter.

They have also been hosted in the eastern province of Kakheti to visit the Alaverdi and Bodbe monasteries, the city of Telavi and the towns of Sighnaghi and Tsinandali, including a historical estate of the 19th century Georgian nobility in the latter. 

Also received in the western hub city of Kutaisi, the reporters were introduced to the popular visitor destinations of Martvili and Okatse canyons in that part of the country, before visiting the town of Mestia and the Ushguli village in the north-western mountainous Svaneti region, as well as the Black Sea city of Batumi.

The first episode of the resulting programme will highlight Tbilisi, the country’s folklore and cuisine, while the second episode will be dedicated to the Caucasus Mountains, the northern highland Kazbegi region and the Gergeti Trinity Church - a notable monument in the locality - in addition to Svaneti and its iconic Medieval towers.

The third episode will showcase Sighnaghi and Kutaisi, as well as local festivals and produce, with the episode four centred around the Martvili and Okatse canyons, the historical fort city of Nokalakevi in the west, the resort town Borjomi, the seaside Adjara region and protected natural areas of the country.
