Khachapuri, a cheese-filled bread recognised among the iconic dishes of Georgian cuisine, is highlighted in a new National Geographic article along with other staples like pkhali, khinkali, satsivi and lobio.

Jennifer Hattam, the author of the piece, penned the article after travelling to Georgia as part of a press tour organised by the country’s National Tourism Administration.

Khachapuri is enjoyed at every type of occasion and any time of day, whether for breakfast, as a quick snack or as part of a lavish dinner feast known as a supra” she points out in her review.

She also said the dish was used to calculate the index of inflation in the state by observing the price of its ingredients, and offered readers a recipe for making it.
