Gastro Batumi, the first international forum on gastronomy, will be hosted in Georgia’s Black Sea city between December 3-5 to bring together French, Belgian and Latvian restaurant chefs with Turkish and Georgian speakers to discuss trends and challenges of gastronomy tourism.

The Department of Tourism and Resorts of western Georgia’s Adjara region said the event would aim to contribute to development of gastronomic tourism in the region and enable participants to share international experience.

The first day of the forum will discuss the role of education in the development of gastronomy, the function of gastronomy in resort development, and the importance of gastronomy conferences. It will also host culinary experiments by chefs and competitions.

Day two will involve culinary master classes where visiting chefs will demonstrate fish, meat and sauce preparation for their domestic counterparts, the Department said, adding the event would have free attendance.

The forum will feature the executive chef of Paloma Finesse hotels from Turkey, the international relations manager of Ferrandi Paris cooking school from France, Georgian chefs and restaurateurs Giorgi Ninua and Guram Bagdoshvili, and gastronomy researcher and expert Dalila Tsatava as speakers.
