The western Georgian city of Kutaisi is hosting Gemo Fest, a food and drink festival, with local hosts presenting remakes of traditional dishes for visitors in a street food form in Veriko Anjaparidze Square in the downtown.

The festival, organised over the weekend by the Georgian National Tourism Administration, is offering the products at the food court, with 17 producers from the Imereti region participating.
Visitors to the event are also invited to bars, wine and enterprise markets, as well as zones for children, a photo booth, installations and music shows.

GNTA Head Maia Omiadze said the two-day festival also included cooking competitions and noted the event was being hosted for the third over the past year, following editions in the western city of Ambrolauri in Racha region, and the town of Mestia in the north-western Svaneti region.

The festival aims to promote local cuisine, support entrepreneurs and increase the flow of domestic and international travellers to the regions.
