Revenue Service: 120 cases of illegal storage, transportation of excise-free tobacco in March

Georgian authorities identified 120 cases of illegal storage and transportation of excise-free tobacco products in the country in March, the Revenue Service announced on Tuesday. 

A total of 13,000 cigarette cartons, including 340 electronic cigarettes, were seized throughout the country by professionals of the Tax Monitoring Department of the Service.

The state body also noted administrative offence protocols had been drawn up on 71 of the incidents, with case materials sent to court, while four cases were sent to the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry. The remaining 45 cases were classified as unidentified.
