Revenue Service says cross-border drug smuggling attempt prevented

Georgia’s Revenue Service on Tuesday said its professionals had prevented an attempt of smuggling of a “large quantity” of drugs across the south-western border with Turkey.

The body said the attempt had been made at the Sarpi border crossing, where officers seized 1,796 pills of Suboxone.

Retrieved from concealed compartments on the body of a Turkish citizen, the pills were seized during the individual’s personal search.

The case has been handed over to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance.
