Georgian customs officers detained two Georgian citizens for attempted smuggling of a large amount of drugs through the Sarpi border crossing checkpoint with Turkey in the south-west of the country, the Revenue Service announced on Thursday.
The officers seized 608 pills of the methadone opioid and 112 capsules of the psychotropic drug pregabalin during their physical and luggage searches of the offenders.
The body also said the case had been handed over to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for further action.
