The Revenue Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry on Friday said its customs officers had identified attempted smuggling of gold items by a group of Georgian and foreign nationals.
The body said the offenses had been identified at Sadakhlo and Sarpi checkpoints, in the country’s south-east and south-west respectively.
The smuggling attempt involved 135.2 grams of gold items worth ₾12,341 ($4,607) through the border crossing points with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The offenders were fined $4,607 for the violation.
