Irakli Beraia, the head of the defence and security committee of the Georgian parliament on Saturday said deepening cooperation with Spain, “especially” at the parliamentary level in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of the NATO parliamentary assembly, had been “very important” for Georgia.
After the meeting with the Spanish delegation, Beraia, heading the Georgian parliamentary delegation at the ongoing assembly in Madrid, pointed out that Spain was Georgia’s “important” partner and supported its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the press service of the Georgian parliament said.

The parties reviewed the progress achieved by Georgia on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration and stressed the importance of “accelerating” the decision of joining NATO. The officials also discussed the security environment in the Black Sea region, Russia's war against Ukraine, and the security challenges of Georgia, including the Russian occupation of Georgian territories, as well as other conventional and hybrid threats coming from the country.
