A delegation of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament is visiting the Turkish capital of Ankara to hold meetings with counterparts from the country’s legislative body in a bid to forge closer ties between the two bodies.
The Georgian Parliament said on Wednesday the visiting group, headed by Chair Irakli Beraia, was scheduled to meet the Head of the Turkish Parliamentary Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and members of the Turkey-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

They will also hold meetings with chairs and members of committees for National Defence, Security and Intelligence, and Internal Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Georgian MPs will also visit the Turkish Aerospace Industries and Havelsan, a leading defence technology company based in the country.

Irakli Beraia, the head of the defence and security committee of the Georgian parliament on Saturday said deepening cooperation with Spain, “especially” at the parliamentary level in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of the NATO parliamentary assembly, had been “very important” for Georgia.
The partnership between Georgia and Romania and the impact of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Irakli Beraia, the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Defence and Security, and Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă.
