Georgian football player Beka Mikeltadze paid tribute to Ukraine amid Russia's military attack on the country after scoring from a penalty spot for his club Newcastle Jets in Australia on Saturday.

The 24-year-old athlete unveiled a T-shirt bearing a hand-drawn Ukrainian flag after scoring a goal against Macarthur FC in the A-league series, before the match finished in a 2-2 draw.

He's [Mikeltadze's] from a country where right now there's a lot of things happening and I know it means a lot to Beka," said Arthur Papas, the manager of Newcastle Jets.

Mikeltadze, a candidate for the Georgian national football team, has already played 11 games and scored eight goals for Newcastle Jets.
