Todor Nedelev, a Bulgarian national football team player, is in a stable condition after a surgery following a traffic accident that involved the team in Tbilisi, ahead of their game against Georgia on Sunday.
Professionals at the University Clinic of the capital city completed a two-hour surgery on the player who had sustained a head injury in the accident, Interpressnews said.
The doctors said his life was not in danger after the surgery, with Nedelev set to stay at the clinic for a week under the supervision of the doctors and Bulgarian national team doctor Bisser Bochev.
The traffic accident saw two buses transporting the Bulgarian team, which arrived in Tbilisi late on Friday and was travelling from the Tbilisi International Airport to their hotel, become involved in a crash.
Reports said the driver of the lead bus had braked heavily, causing a collision between the two vehicles, with Nedelev injured in the face and on his hands by splinters of shattered windows of the bus he was travelling in.
No other injuries were reported from the visiting team, which is set to face Georgia in a UEFA Nations League group stage match on Sunday.
