Georgia celebrated a second win in their 2022 World Cup qualifying group as they defeated Sweden in Batumi on Thursday, while fans in the country were amused by a tweet by the Swedish ambassador, who used an expression in Georgian to illustrate his reaction to the result.
Through goals by the rising star midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian national team under manager Willy Sagnol delighted local fans with a 2-0 win at Adjarabet Arena stadium in the Black Sea coastline city.

The victory saw Sweden concede the lead in the group to Spain, while Georgia have collected seven points from their games, leaving them just two behind the third-placed Greece.
Alongside fans on the Batumi stadium was Ulrik Tidestroem, Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia, and his tweet from the football arena gave social media users in Georgia another reason to smile.
ვაიმე, ვაიმეეე ???? გილოცავთ გამარჯვებას! Congratulations Georgia on tonight’s football win in Batumi! You might guess who I was cheering for, but hats off for a well played game ????????????????????@GeorgiaGff@SwedeninGE pic.twitter.com/BC5fcAYoRX

Tidestroem used the multi-faceted Georgian word "vaime" (roughly translating into "oh, no!", or "oh, my god!") in his message, adding: "You might guess who I was cheering for, but hats off for a well played game".
The Swedish official also congratulated Sagnol's team on the result, as Georgian users of Twitter, including the president of the country's football federation Levan Kobiashvili, responded to the tweet with wishes for success to the visiting team in their quest for a spot at next year's World Cup.
The game on Thursday saw Kvaratskhelia score on minute 51 and 77 to see his team score the final result. The match was the final fixture for the Georgian team in the qualifying round.
