Tornike Shengelia, a professional basketball player and captain of the Georgian national basketball team, has reportedly left the Russian army club CSKA Moscow amid the country's ongoing military invasion of Ukraine, Georgian media outlet Commersant reported on Saturday.
Shengelia also expressed support for Ukraine by updating his Facebook profile picture with an image of the Ukrainian flag.
Praying for Ukraine! Stay strong, he wrote.
The Georgian player has yet to make a statement to the media on the matter, and is currently focused on the "well-being of his family," his agent Nikos Varlas told the press.
The 30-year-old power forward played for Spain's Saski Baskonia prior to his transfer to CSKA in 2020.
