Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Thursday is participating in a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, discussing the situation created as a result of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the country’s needs in combating the ongoing Russian offensives, as well as the security challenges facing the United States’s allies and partners.
The meeting of Rammstein format of NATO was organised by the United States Department of Defence and chaired by the U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin and Mark Milley, the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Georgian Defence Ministry said.
NATO member and non-member countries express their support for Ukraine as they can provide, and with time, more countries join this group", said Burchuladze, adding the Georgian side has been attending this meeting for the second time, where current situation and developments in Ukraine are discussed.
Involving defence ministers and high-ranking military personnel from Western-aligned nations, the gathering support Ukraine and condemn Russia’s “unjustified and aggressive” war against the country.
Georgia attends the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting at the invitation of the US Department of Defence.
