Georgian Defence Minister joins NATO counterparts in Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Friday joined his counterparts from NATO member and partner states in a meeting of the alliance’s Ukraine Defence Contact Group for discussing strategies and initiatives to assist the country in combating the ongoing Russian offensives.

The United States Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin brought together partner defence ministers and senior military officials for the meeting at the US Air Force’s Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the Georgian Defence Ministry said.

 

In the discussions, the officials reviewed the current situation on the backdrop of Russia's aggression in Ukraine and the need to ensure ongoing military assistance to the country.

The meeting also focused on security challenges facing US allies and partners.
