Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Monday said the Government was aiming to promote armed service and “raise the youth with patriotic spirit”.

In his speech at the inauguration of Army Camp, a project at the Academy of Sergeants in Kojori outside capital Tbilisi, Burchuladze said the Ministry’s initiative was “of state importance”.

This project, apart from being of state importance, is our pride, and I would like to thank Prime Minister [Irakli Garibashvili] for his support that he has shown not only for this particular project, but [overall]. [I]n the last few years, we have [also] started building a cadet corps in eastern Georgia, which is a very successful project”, Burchuladze said.

“Our aim is to promote the army and to raise the youth with patriotic spirit. We will get the result that we will not lose the values [that we have] in today's technology era”, he also told the audience at the event.

The Minister told entrants of the Camp “our homeland stands on [preservation of values] and your families should stand on it”, before adding “[w]e will definitely achieve this goal”.
