Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Wednesday took part in the virtual meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group to discuss the current situation in Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion.

Defence ministers and high-ranking military personnel from 50 countries participated in the 10th meeting of the international group supporting Ukraine, discussing initiatives to provide the country with coordinated military assistance in combating the ongoing Russian offensives.

The 10th edition of the Contact Group was organised by Lloyd Austin, the United States Secretary of Defence and General Mark Milley, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and was also attended by Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, the Chief of Georgian Defence Forces, the Georgian Defence Ministry said.

The Contact Group of Ukraine was formed at the initiative of the US, and the inaugural gathering was held at the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany in April of the last year, with Burchuladze joining the meetings since June, starting with the third session in Brussels.
